The Brief
Central FS in collaboration with Blantyre Park Services were hired, as their external air conditioning units had broken down and required upgrading.
Key Issues
In order to replace the external air conditioning units, a crane was required to lift the old one out and lower the new one in.
Approach Taken
The job began with a pre-start meeting to go over all details regarding the project, including the process of replacing the air conditioning units, as this needed to be perfect to the millimeter. The job commenced according to the program of works. On-site meetings were held every week for regular updates on progress. The broken air conditioning unit was disconnected and removed, which required a crane, safe isolation, and the stripping out of steel-wired armors with two 185mm SWA cables. The new air conditioning unit was then carefully lowered into position by crane, ensuring it was perfect to the millimeter in order to re-tailor the old armors to the new air conditioning units.
Outcome
Once the installation was completed, all testing and commissioning was carried out, all certifications were issued, and the handover was completed. The client was very pleased with the scope of work performed, and the target times were met.
